Thank you for your interest in the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County’s (SWANCC) Eco-Friendly Fashion Show program. This thirty-minute educational presentation features wearable articles made, in part, from recycled #1 PET plastic beverage bottles, environmentally-friendly fibers and other recycled materials. The purpose of this production is to heighten awareness about waste reduction practices (reduce, reuse, recycle) and the importance of buying products that have less on an impact on our Earth’s resources.
There is no cost for this program to schools or community groups located in a SWANCC-member community (see reverse side). For school groups, inviting science, consumer education and fashion design classes is recommended. Due to the nature of the clothing items, mid-fall, winter and early spring are the best seasons to schedule a show.
The fashion show is best presented in an auditorium and requires approximately 25 models of ALL sizes. If you use all of the fashions in the show, there are enough outfits for 53 models. The show needs a minimum of 3 male models, 4 youth-sized models and 25 female models. Twenty-one outfits are unisex and can be worn by either a female or male model. Since there are outfits and accessories for over 50 models, many of the models will have a chance to appear on stage twice.
Equipment needed for the production includes:
• A podium with a light
• A microphone (wireless if available)
• A sound system to accommodate a CD
• Three - 6’ tables
• A coat rack (needed in an area off stage and out of the way of foot traffic)
• A dressing room or bathroom nearby for the models
• Two individuals assist backstage, both before and after the show (not models)
SWANCC will supply the outfits & accessories, music, a script, a list of where to purchase the items featured in the show and a press release to send to local newspapers or media contacts prior to the event.
Please review the Agency’s Loan Policy below prior to reserving its Eco-Friendly Fashion Show.
